Introduction to Music
This curriculum prepares children 18
months to 2 years for “The Husky
Gang Program”. Students learn to
sing, listen and respond to music in
a positive way. They learn to
recognize many different kinds of
instruments by sound, touch and
feel. They also learn the basic
playing techniques of those
instruments. In addition, they learn
ear training, music in motion, time
values, rhythm, and pitch.
♫
Of
course, whether we can train
children as young as 18 months
depends upon the 'maturity' of the
child. It’s a question of, “How
young is too young?” Basically, if a
child has a musical aptitude, can
communicate with others well, and is
not too dependent on a parent, that
child can be introduced to music.
Not all children at 18 months are
ready for music lessons, but those
who are, do very well. ♫
Students
in the Intro to Music program are required to
take one hour group lesson per week and one
half-hour private lesson every week. No aptitude
test is required. The groups are small (between
3 and 6 in a group) and age appropriate. These
classes are taught by Ms. Sdoia-Satz.
