For years, Sdoia-Satz Music Institute, (The Husky Gang School), a small, prestigious music school in Miami, has been quietly using some unique, innovative, unusual and highly successful strategies to teach their students music. As a result, their students learn in months, what it ordinarily takes years to accomplish. These teaching tips have proven so successful that they have been demonstrated on CNN, Headline News, FOX, CBS, NBC, and Univision, in news programs and interviews. In addition, newspapers and magazines (including a medical journal) have featured hundreds of articles and stories about Sdoia-Satz Music Institute and its visionary director, Phyllis Sdoia-Satz. ♫
The teaching ideas, tips, and methods of Ms. Sdoia-Satz began as The Husky Gang Program, a teaching concept for very young children (See The Husky Gang Program). Over the years, it evolved into a program that worked with people of any age, whether two years old, or a hundred and two. Ms. Sdoia-Satz called it “PRACTICING SUCKS…But It Doesn’t Have To!!! (The program guarantees that a student using the Practicing Sucks concept can learn two to four times faster and with less stress, than with traditional programs of learning. What’s more, it works not just for music, but for learning ANYTHING. ♫
Now, after many requests, the school has decided to make these proven methods public in a series of widely publicized seminars, clinics and books called PRACTICING SUCKS…But It Doesn’t Have To!!! At last – the secrets of how to learn faster, easier, better, with less frustration than ever before will be revealed. ♫
The series is meant for teachers, students and parents. Through interactive demonstrations with the audience, the lectures, seminars and clinics will present strategies and tactics for overcoming the common challenges students face when learning music. ♫
Sdoia-Satz Music Institute has opened a new department in the school...DIMECC - the Division of Music Education Consultants and Clinicians, which will conduct Practicing Sucks seminars nationwide. ♫
Ms. Sdoia-Satz and DIMECC personnel will meet with interested groups, and using a variety of assessment techniques, will address problems related to interest, attention, motivation, coordination, dexterity, patience, and/or learning. They will make evaluations and recommendations in order to help the students and teachers achieve the best results in the shortest period of time. They will help set up curricula for individual students and teachers as needed and will conference with families as well. Ms. Sdoia-Satz will also meet with teachers who wish to upgrade skills and help put them at the leading edge of today’s educational world. ♫
